Mini Anapana Meditation Session

What is a “Mini Anapana Meditation Session”?

What is a Mini Anapana meditation session?

At the ten-day residential meditation courses run by the Japan Vipassana Association (JVA), the first three-and-a-half days are spent observing the breath. This is called Anapana meditation.

Mini Anapana is a short summary of this technique which is taught in about 30 minutes. It was developed by Mr. S.N. Goenka for those who are interested in meditation and wonder what it involves, as well as those who are currently unable to take the time to attend a 10-day course but still wish to gain some experience of meditation. Sessions are taught using a recording of instructions given by Mr. S.N. Goenka.

At JVA Dhamma Bhanu, Mini Anapana meditation sessions are held on occasions such as Open House days at the center.

JVA Dhammadicca holds Mini Anapana sessions three times a year which are open to anyone to attend.

There are no charges for the session.

Those who have attended Mini Anapana meditation sessions in the past have commented that "After experiencing a small part of meditation, I feel that it is something I would be capable of doing," and "I hope to make time as soon as possible to take a course." Many have gone on to join ten-day courses.

Registration for Mini Anapana sessions run by JVA Dhammadicca opens approximately two-and-a-half months prior to each session.
